You run an AI math lab. Each day, buy GPU-hours, pose open problems, and decide how much to spend on Lean formalization. Publish results, keep your reputation, and watch out for referees: unformalized papers can turn out to have a sign error.

The real numbers: per the openai/math README, about 4,000 problems were posed, each result took about three hours of ChatGPT Pro thinking, and the catalog ended up with 372 result families in 719 manuscripts, about 42% formalized in Lean. Three papers were withdrawn on October 7, 2026.
